Executive Director, The Greenwood Promise

The (Executive) Director (ED) is a full-time position that works with the Greenwood Promise Committee (GPC) to manage the day-to-day management of the organization, programs, and volunteers for the Greenwood Promise. The ED,  GPC, and volunteers, will move the mission of the organization forward to meet the goals outlined in the organization’s strategic plan. The ED provides overall leadership for strategy, organizational development, implementation, financial oversight, and fundraising.

Responsibilities Include:

Greenwood Promise Committee

  • Provide leadership for The Greenwood Promise, volunteers, and GPC
  • Develop, with the GPC, both strategic and business plans to ensure the mission of The Greenwood Promise is met
  • Monitor progress, implementation, and modification of the strategic and business plans in conjunction with the GPC using the strategic plan as a clear direction for The Greenwood Promise
  • Update and implement policies and procedures for The Greenwood Promise operations
  • Provide leadership in developing the program and financial plans with the GPC and volunteers and implement plans and policies authorized by the Board of Directors
  • Organize GPC meetings in conjunction with the Chair (help set agenda, assemble materials for Committee Meetings, provide regular updates to the GPC)
  • Cultivate and maintain a strong partnership with the GPC in setting policies consistent with the mission of The Greenwood Promise

Finance

  • Focus volunteers and GPC efforts towards goals of the strategic plan, encouraging development and completion of activities that provide the highest return in pursuit of financial sustainability
  • Work with the volunteers, Finance Committee, and GPC in preparation, presentation, approval of, and compliance with an annual budget
  • Ensure that The Greenwood Promise operates within approved budgetary guidelines and policies
  • Develop and maintain sound financial practices

Fundraising and Development

  • Lead fundraising efforts and effectively engage Board members, donors, and prospective donors in fundraising
  • Pursue sponsorship of school facilities, educational programs, and activities
  • Responsible for raising funds to support the increasing implementation of the different phases of the Greenwood Promise

Community Relations and Communications

  • Represent The Greenwood Promise in media relations by participating in interviews
  • Responsible for timely, consistent communication and positive relations with GPC and volunteers
  • Serve as the face of The Greenwood Promise throughout the community
  • Cultivate and maintain strong, mutually beneficial relationships with Greenwood County School Districts 50, 51, 52, and all privates schools, in addition to Piedmont Technical College and Lander University
  • Cultivate and maintain strong, mutually beneficial relationships with community leaders, elected officials, and regulatory groups
  • Develop and manage a variety of social media platforms to disseminate information to students, parents, staff, and the community
  • Responsible for maintaining The Greenwood Promise webpage content

Programs and Operations

  • Lead and support the development, design, and delivery of program initiatives, ensuring that goals and objectives are aligned with The Greenwood Promise’s strategic plan
  • Provide for quality assurance monitoring of The Greenwood Promise, assuring correction of deficiencies and continual improvement in program services
  • Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the educational fields including public and private K-12 and post-secondary education
  • Maintain participation and credibility in all PromiseNet gatherings and professional development throughout the country
  • Maintain official records and documents to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Oversee implementation of eScholarship in securely housing all Greenwood County student records
  • Provide accurate tracking and calculations of students’ eligibility and funding available to them
  • Oversee the disbursement of The Greenwood Promise program funding to appropriate post-secondary educational institutions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Passion for the mission and vision of The Greenwood Promise
  • Excellent organizational development, interpersonal, marketing, communication, administration, and personnel management skills
  • Experience managing a complex budget and experience understanding investment policies
  • Ability to build collaborative ventures with diverse constituents
  • Proven success in fund development, including knowledge of and success in writing grant proposals attracting foundation and corporate grants; ability to identify, solicit, and steward individual donors
  • Ability to raise the visibility of the organization through successful marketing
  • Ability to foster a healthy organizational culture, encourage teamwork, and collaboration
  • Strong interpersonal skills that include the ability to inspire and motivate
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; strong presentation skills
  • Experience working with and/or for non-profit organizations is desirable
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Computer literate
  • Multi-cultural sensitivity
  • Strong sense of urgency in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment that requires that ability to multi-task and respond quickly
