The Greenwood Promise: Promise Makers 2017

Your support provides a tuition-free path to higher education

Thanks to our supporters Promise awards began with the spring high school graduating class of 2017.

In fact, for fall 2017, 146 students from the 2017 graduating high school class in Greenwood County applied to receive Promise funds, and 141 were eligible for funding. As a result, Piedmont Technical College has seen a 38% increase in the number of students from Greenwood schools enrolling in fall classes directly after high school. After all, aid was applied to eligible students, 38 received Promise funds to pay their remaining tuition, with awards ranging from $52.50 to $1,675.00.

This is a fantastic start to our Promise Program and will have an incredible impact on the vitality of Greenwood County!

Today, we are launching our Promise Makers 2017 Campaign.  With additional contributions to the Promise, we will see opportunities for students in our region grow exponentially. Up to this point, a small group of supporters has raised more than $4.6 million towards off-setting the cost of two years at the technical college level—bringing us within reach of our Phase I goal of $5 million!

Now we are counting on the support of people like you to help provide every student with a tuition-free path to higher education. Your donation will go into an endowment that not only provides support for current students, but it will continue to help students for the life of the program.

It is our hope that, as a unified community, we will soon surpass our initial fundraising goal and turn our attention to providing young people in our county a tuition-free path to their bachelor’s degree.

Please be a PROMISE MAKER and give the GIFT OF AN EDUCATION now.

Thank you in advance for your support.
